Surface‐Engineered Cenospheres Encapsulating Phase Change Materials for Functional Cementitious Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The global energy demand drives the need for advanced energy‐efficient building solutions. While current polymeric‐shell microencapsulated PCMs show promise for thermal energy storage, their use in cementitious materials is challenged by poor shell strength and interfacial bonding. This study develops novel cement‐compatible microencapsulated PCM using

Natural Toolbox–Chemical Engineering Aspect and High‐Value Applications of Janus Cellulose Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Tai Ji symbol from China represents the co‐existence of two opposite substances, similar to quantum entanglement. The term Janus comes from ancient Roman religion and mythology. Janus, the god of beginnings, transitions, etc., has two faces, symbolizing duality. Janus cellulose nanomaterials show structural duality.

Experimental Investigation on Natural Convection Heat Transfer of Porous Media Metal Foam

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2017
Natural convection heat transfer is experimentally investigated for a porous medium, water-saturated copper foam, in a square cavity. The effects of porosity, pore density (PPI) and angle of inclination on natural convection heat transfer are discussed ...

Revealing Physical Mechanisms of Spatial Pattern Formation and Switching in Ecosystems via Nonequilibrium Landscape and Flux

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The universality of the landscape‐flux theory with the mode expansion method for analyzing spatial patterns is illustrated by applying it to vegetation patterns in semi‐arid ecosystems. The framework quantifies global dynamics and most probable transition pathways between ecosystem states under random forcing.

General Screening Rules and Segmented Optimization Strategy for Efficient Thermoelectric Devices Validated by Mg3(Sb,Bi)2/Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3‐GeTe Module

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging the materials' compatibility, optimized matching relationships are established to enhance the performance of segmented thermoelectric devices. To validate this approach, a segmented thermoelectric generator is fabricated incorporating n‐type Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 and p‐type Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3‐GeTe.

Manipulation of Convection Using Infrared Light Emitted from Human Hands

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Control of convection plays an important role in heat transfer regulation, bio/chemical sensing, phase separation, etc. Current convection controlling systems generally depend on engineered energy sources to drive and manipulate the convection, which ...
