Experimental Studies of Natural Convection Heat Transfer of AlO/DI Water Nanoparticle Suspensions (Nanofluids)

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2010
The natural convection heat transfer characteristics of Al 2 O 3 / water nanofluids comprised of 47 nm, Al 2 O 3 and water, with volume fractions ranging from 0.5% through 6%, has been investigated through a set of experimental measurements.

Natural convection in an enclosed cavity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics, 1984
The problem of buoyancy driven flow in a vertical, rectangular cavity whose vertical sides are at different temperatures and whose horizontal sides are insulated is addressed. An application of the dynamic A.D.I. method to obtain numerical solutions to this problem is described.

Interactions Between Active Matters and Endogenous Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes endogenous field information and computational methods in contexts such as cancer, wounds, and biofilms. It organizes NAMs and AAMs by sensing, transmitting, and executing functions, compares their limitations, and from these contrasts proposes design strategies for next‐generation AAMs, offering perspectives to foster ...

Bio‐Inspired Artificial Muscle‐Tendon Complex of Liquid Crystal Elastomer for Bidirectional Afferent‐Efferent Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The Muscle–tendon complex (MTC)‐inspired Liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) artificial muscle integrates actuation (efferent) and proprioceptive sensing (afferent) by combining contractile nematic and elastic isotropic LCEs within a single soft structure. Embedded liquid metal channels enable simultaneous Joule heating and real‐time sensing of length and ...

Numerical Investigation of Turbulent Mixed Convection of Liquid Metal in Inclined Tube Based on Second-order Differential Heat Flux Model

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
Liquid metal reactors, widely used in advanced nuclear systems, utilize liquid metals with low Prandtl numbers as coolants. The flow of liquid metal within the fuel assembly often exists in a mixed convection regime.

Decoupling Transport of Salt Ions and Water in Hierarchically Structured Hydrogel for High Salinity Desalination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured hydrogel evaporator enables controlled decoupling of salt‐ion and water transport pathways for efficient solar desalination in hypersaline environments. Engineered radial and vertical channels direct salt away from the evaporative interface, enhancing water evaporation and ambient energy harvesting via a cold‐surface effect.
