A Search for Natural Hydrophobic Deep Eutectic Solvents Based on Natural Components [PDF]

open access: yesACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, 2019
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) based on terpenes are identified and characterized. 507 combinations of solid components are tested, which results in the identification of 17 new hydrophobic DESs. Four criteria are introduced to assess the sustainability of these hydrophobic DESs from a chemical engineering point of view.

Nature of a Tetrabutylammonium Chloride–Levulinic Acid Deep Eutectic Solvent

open access: yesIndustrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2023
A deep eutectic solvent was formed by considering the mixtures of tetrabutylammonium chloride and levulinic acid, and it is studied via a combined theoretical and experimental approach. Physicochemical properties were measured as a function of temperature, providing a macroscopic characterization of the fluid.

A Bilayered Inorganic‐Metal Interface Enables Highly Reversible Aluminum Deposition for Long‐Life Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gradient M/MOx (M = Sn, Cu, Cd) synergistic interphase was constructed on Al via a one‐step displacement reaction. This interphase leverages high aluminophilicity and ion‐buffering capability to accelerate desolvation, enhance Al3+ transport, and suppress side reactions, enabling ultrastable symmetric cell operation at 0.05 mA cm−2 for 1800 h with an
