Nonparametric Information Geometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The differential-geometric structure of the set of positive densities on a given measure space has raised the interest of many mathematicians after the discovery by C.R. Rao of the geometric meaning of the Fisher information.

Uniformly consistently estimating the proportion of false null hypotheses via Lebesgue-Stieltjes integral equations

open access: yes, 2019
The proportion of false null hypotheses is a very important quantity in statistical modelling and inference based on the two-component mixture model and its extensions, and in control and estimation of the false discovery rate and false non-discovery ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

On Cauchy-Stieltjes Kernel Families [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We explore properties of Cauchy-Stieltjes families that have no counterpart in exponential families. We relate the variance function of the iterated Cauchy-Stieltjes family to the pseudo-variance function of the initial Cauchy-Stieltjes family.

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Nucleic Acid Ligands With Protein-like Side Chains: Modified Aptamers and Their Use as Diagnostic and Therapeutic Agents

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2014
Limited chemical diversity of nucleic acid libraries has long been suspected to be a major constraining factor in the overall success of SELEX (Systematic Evolution of Ligands by EXponential enrichment).

Boundary Crossing Probabilities for General Exponential Families [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We consider parametric exponential families of dimension $K$ on the real line. We study a variant of \textit{boundary crossing probabilities} coming from the multi-armed bandit literature, in the case when the real-valued distributions form an ...

Nonparametric regression in natural exponential families

open access: yes, 2010
Theory and methodology for nonparametric regression have been particularly well developed in the case of additive homoscedastic Gaussian noise. Inspired by asymptotic equivalence theory, there have been ongoing efforts in recent years to construct explicit procedures that turn other function estimation problems into a standard nonparametric regression ...

BACH, a Bayesian Optimization Protocol for Accurate Coarse‐Grained Parameterization of Organic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.
