Boundedness of Variance Functions of Natural Exponential Families with Unbounded Support

open access: yesMathematics
The variance function (VF) is central to natural exponential family (NEF) theory. Prompted by an online query about whether, beyond the classical normal NEF, other real-line NEFs with bounded VFs exist, we establish three complementary sets of sufficient

Carboranyl‐Curcuminoids for the Neutron Capture‐Based Treatment of Amyloid Aggregates in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 10B‐enriched monocarbonyl analog of curcumin (BMAC) 10B‐9 enables site‐specific Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) on amyloid‐β (Aβ) fibrils. Neutron irradiation induces histidine oxidation and fibril destabilization, as revealed by 1H‐NMR and FESEM analyses.

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

Beyond Expansion IV: Traces of Thin Semigroups

open access: yesDiscrete Analysis, 2018
Beyond Expansion IV: Traces of Thin Semigroups, Discrete Analysis 2018:6, 27 pp. This is the fourth in a series of papers by Bourgain and Kontorovich that study the arithmetic properties of groups and semigroups of 2-by-2 integer matrices.

Self‐Assisted Charge Storage‐Release Mechanism Enabling Flexible Design of Biomimetic Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by the mimosa, this study develops a flexible triboelectric nanogenerator with a novel microneedle array and battery‐mimetic architecture. The device introduces a spontaneous charge self‐regulation mechanism that confines the electric field below the air breakdown threshold, and achieves an outstanding charge density of 396.50 µC m−2 ...

Sub‐Unit‐Cell Logic Governs Transport in TPMS Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Next‐generation energy, thermal, and chemical systems require architectures capable of highly efficient transport across multiple length scales. Triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS), first conceptualized in 1865, offer inherently scalable geometries with exceptional transport potential, yet mechanistic links between topology and performance

New High‐Tc Charge‐Transfer Multiferroicity in the Quasi‐2D Antiferromagnet CrSbS3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Low‐dimensional magnets, particularly 2D systems, offer a rich platform for realizing unconventional multiferroic mechanisms, especially when multiple polarization channels coexist. In the quasi‐2D antiferromagnet CrSbS3, which crystallizes in the centrosymmetric orthorhombic space group Pnma and orders magnetically at TN ≈ 90 K, two ...

Cross‐Modal Denoising and Integration of Spatial Multi‐Omics Data with CANDIES

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this paper, we introduce CANDIES, which leverages a conditional diffusion model and contrastive learning to effectively denoise and integrate spatial multi‐omics data. We conduct extensive evaluations on diverse synthetic and real datasets, CANDIES shows superior performance on various downstream tasks, including denoising, spatial domain ...

Natural Exponential Families with Quadratic Variance Functions: Statistical Theory

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1983
The normal, Poisson, gamma, binomial, negative binomial, and NEFGHS distributions are the six univariate natural exponential families (NEF) with quadratic variance functions (QVF). This sequel to Morris (1982) treats certain statistical topics that can be handled within this unified NEF-QVF formulation, including unbiased estimation, Bhattacharyya and ...

Cumulative distribution functions for the five simplest natural exponential families [PDF]

open access: yesMetrika, 2019
Suppose that the distribution of $X_a$ belongs to a natural exponential family concentrated on the nonegative integers and is such that $\E(z^{X_a})=f(az)/f(a)$. Assume that $\Pr(X_a\leq k)$ has the form $c_k\int_a ^{\infty}u^k (du)$ for some number $c_k$ and some positive measure $ ,$ both independent of $a.$ We show that this asumption implies that
