The natural history of aberrant crypt foci
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2008Aberrant crypt foci (ACF) are the putative precursors to colorectal adenomas and may be useful as biomarkers. Knowledge of their natural history is essential to understanding their potential utility. Our purpose was to examine ACF detection 1 year after initial observation. We conducted a multicenter study of ACF by using a standardized protocol.

Yersinia pestis from Natural Foci
2006Our results showed that the non-classical Y. pestis subspecies strains possessed properties of both the classical Y. pestis subspecies and those of Y. pseudotuberculosis, i.e. in this respect they could be placed between the causative agents of plague and pseudotuberculosis suggesting that they may form a step in the process of evolution of clasical Y.

Natural history of aberrant crypt foci
Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 1996The aberrant crypt focus (ACF) appears to be an important early step in colorectal carcinogenesis. Our objectives were to determine the natural history of ACF in a surgical model. The natural history of ACF was followed by marking the lesions in vivo with tattoos. Rats were given four weekly injections of azoxymethand (AOM; 20 mg/kg).

[Natural foci of Lyme borreliosis].
Ceskoslovenska epidemiologie, mikrobiologie, imunologie, 1990The submitted paper provides evidence that tick-borne borreliosis described as Lyme disease, is a disease with natural focality. Its properties, despite the widespread occurrence, classify it in this group. The authors give a characteristic of the disease, of hitherto known vectors, the main reservoir animals in America and Europe.

Since plague is an important natural focus zoonosis, the typing of natural plague foci becomes one of the elements in understanding the nature and developing related prevention program of the disease. Natural foci of plague are composed by four fundamental parts which include Eco-geographical landscape (natural plague foci), hosts, vectors and ...
