Experimental Investigation of Fracture Interaction between Natural Fractures and Hydraulic Fracture in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

SPE EUROPEC/EAGE Annual Conference and Exhibition, 2011
Abstract The interaction between natural fractures and hydraulic fracture was observed in multiple naturally fractured blocks by a series of physical model tests. The effect of natural fractures and in-situ stress on fracture geometry was revealed. Three types of fracture geometry were observed due to a change of in-situ stress contrast.

Reactivation mechanism of natural fractures by hydraulic fracturing in naturally fractured shale reservoirs

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2015
Abstract Hydraulic fracturing technique has been commonly used in the development of shale reservoir aiming to produce from complex network of fractures. One of the key parameters that affects the hydraulic fracture complexity is the natural fracture in the shale reservoir.

Fracture Porosity of Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

Proceedings of First International Oil Conference and Exhibition in Mexico, 2006
Abstract The storage capacity ratio, ω, measures the flow capacitance of the secondary porosity and the interporosity flow parameter, λ, is related to the heterogeneity scale of the system. Currently, both parameters λ and ω are obtained from well test data by using the conventional semilog analysis, type-curve matching or the TDS ...
