Domain Engineering and Anisotropic Domain‐Wall Photovoltaic Effects in Ferroelectric SnS
The bulk photovoltaic effect at domain walls in the in‐plane ferroelectric 2D semiconductor SnS is investigated using periodic domain structures. Unlike conventional oxide ferroelectrics, domain walls of SnS do not contribute to photocurrent generation perpendicular to the domain walls.

A PDE-constrained optimization formulation for discrete fracture network flows [PDF]
We investigate a new numerical approach for the computation of the 3D flow in a discrete fracture network that does not require a conforming discretization of partial differential equations on complex 3D systems of planar fractures.

Comprehensive Investigation of Factors Affecting Acid Fracture Propagation with Natural Fracture
Acid fracturing is a crucial stimulation technique to enhance hydrocarbon recovery in carbonate reservoirs. However, the interaction between acid fractures and natural fractures remains complex due to the combined effects of mechanical, chemical, and ...

Bone‐Inspired Recyclable Composites for Damage‐Tolerant Circular Materials
Bone‐inspired architected composites are developed by combining osteon‐like reinforcements with a recyclable Elium thermoplastic matrix. The hierarchical architecture redirects cracks and promotes energy dissipation, while enabling recovery of intact, aligned, load‐bearing reinforcement units that retain their original stiffness, revealing a route ...

Hydraulic fracture extension characteristics of fractured formation based on phase field method
Based on the theory of phase field method, a model of fracture propagation in porous elastic formation is established. In the proposed model, the fluid flow in the porous rock obeys Darcy’s seepage law, and the permeability of rock is anisotropic and a ...

Preferential Interfacial Engineering of Hydrogels via Interdigitated Nanoparticle Assembly
Robust surface functionalization of hydrogel surfaces is performed via interdigitated metal nanoparticle assembly, inducing strong affinity with the hydrogel matrix. The partially exposed nanoparticle domains act as interfacial nanobridges that mediate both chemical and physical bonding with diverse materials, including small molecules, fluorous ...

Melanin content directly controls fungal spore mechanical properties, with pigmented spores achieving rupture forces two orders of magnitude higher than hyaline spores. Environmental stress drives this quantity‐quality tradeoff; stressed species invest energy in melanin‐reinforced, mechanically superior thick‐walled, super‐hydrophobic spores, while ...
