Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

2019
Currently, there are numerous of authors defined the fracture from a different perspective, However, from the geo-mechanical viewpoint; a fracture is defined as a surface in which a loss of solidity has taken place.

Effect of Natural Fracture on Hydraulic Fracture Propagation in Naturally Fractured Reservoir – A Finite Element Modeling

72nd EAGE Conference and Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2010, 2010
Numerical results have shown that at high angle of approach and differential stress, it is more likely for the hydraulic fracture to cross the natural fracture, whereas for a case where angle of approach and differential stress are low the hydraulic fracture is more likely to be arrested and then reorient the existing path and propagate through natural

Effect of a natural fracture on hydraulic fracture propagation

2004
The effect of an existing fracture in a naturally fractured formation on the extension of a hydraulically induced natural fracture has been studied. Fracture interaction criterion was presented and a numerical model was developed to predict the dynamic fracture dimensions based on PKN³¹ fracture mechanics.
