Electrical properties of methane hydrate + sediment mixtures
Knowledge of the electrical properties of multicomponent systems with gas hydrate, sediments, and pore water is needed to help relate electromagnetic (EM) measurements to specific gas hydrate concentration and distribution patterns in nature. Toward this

The carbon cloth electrode with targeted pyridinic nitrogen doping, achieved via urea pyrolysis, effectively modulates the adsorption of Cr(II) species and enhances electron transfer, leading to significantly improved kinetics of the Cr(II)/Cr(III) reaction. The material demonstrates a high discharge capacity of 689.3 mAh and an energy efficiency of 72.

Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...

Rising methane gas bubbles form massive hydrate layers at the seafloor [PDF]
Extensive methane hydrate layers are formed in the near-surface sediments of the Cascadia margin. An undissociated section of such a layer was recovered at the base of a gravity core (i.e.

Hydrate formation in natural gas pipelines [PDF]
Gas hydrates pose a problem to the flow assurance programs in the oil and gas industry. This paper highlights the mechanisms of hydrate formation in natural gas pipelines. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to gain insight in to the mechanisms of water vapour condensation and consequent water accumulation in the lowered sections of a gas ...

Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...

Temperature and pressure conditions required for the stability of natural gas hydrates are found in sediments of Canada's permafrost and offshore regions. Geophysical evidence suggests that a significant amount of methane is stored as gas hydrate in these regions.
