Transient-State Natural Gas Transmission in Gunbarrel Pipeline Networks

INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2020
We study the energy consumption minimization problems of natural gas transmission in gunbarrel structured networks. In particular, we consider the transient-state dynamics of natural gas and the compressor’s nonlinear working domain and min-up-and-down constraints.

Supply resilience assessment of natural gas pipeline network systems

Journal of Cleaner Production, 2023
Resilience is one of the important components of system safety evaluation and optimization, the research of which for natural gas pipeline network system (NGPNS) is still in initial stage, especially for the resilience indexes and process description. To evaluate the resilience of NGPNS more synthetically and practically, considering different types of

Seismic Vulnerability of a Natural Gas Pipeline Network

Pipelines 2008, 2008
In this paper, a landslide prone area in Istanbul has been studied to show the seismic vulnerability of a proposed natural gas pipeline network. The area is located 9 km away to the north of the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ). NAFZ is seismically very active and a major earthquake is expected within the next 30 years.

Vulnerability analysis of a natural gas pipeline network based on network flow

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2020
Abstract A vulnerability analysis of the transportation capacity of a natural-gas pipeline network based on network flow was proposed. This analysis focused on the inherent properties instead of the environment and probabilities, which are usually considered in conventional risk assessments. The topology of the pipeline network was established in the

Simulation model for natural gas transmission pipeline network system

Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory, 2011
Abstract This paper focuses on developing a simulation model for the analysis of transmission pipeline network system (TPNS) with detailed characteristics of compressor stations. Compressor station is the key element in the TPNS since it provides energy to keep the gas moving.

Optimizing Blended Hydrogen Uniformity Within Natural Gas Pipeline Distribution Networks

Volume 1: Pipeline Safety Management Systems; Project Management, Design, Construction, and Environmental Issues; Strain-Based Design and Assessment; Risk and Reliability; Emerging Fuels and Greenhouse Gas Emissions, 2022
Abstract Blending hydrogen into existing natural gas pipeline distribution networks is becoming prominent in the alternative energy industry. Non-uniformity of the hydrogen concentration can occur in the blends delivered at the demand locations of these networks.

Supply security in the European natural gas pipeline network

2012
Energy security of natural gas supplies in Europe is becoming a key concern. As demand increases, infrastructure development focuses on extending the capacity of the pipeline system. While conventional approaches focus mainly on source dependence, we argue for a network perspective to also consider risks associated with transit countries, by borrowing ...

Probabilistic analysis of natural gas pipeline network accident based on Bayesian network

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2017
Abstract Natural gas pipeline network (NGPN) accident is a kind of catastrophic disaster as the hazard of natural gas may present a large-scale extension in NGPN that can easily result in cascading accidents. In this paper, the Bayesian network (BN) was employed to probabilistically analyze natural gas pipeline network accidents. On the basis of case-
