A graph neural network (GNN) method for assigning gas calorific values to natural gas pipeline networks

Energy, 2023
Calorific value metering offers unique advantages in the natural gas industry. Based on a graph neural network (GNN), this study proposes a method for metering the gas calorific value in natural gas transportation. Graph theory is introduced to consider the effects of physical topology and node properties in natural gas pipeline networks.

Research on transient composition tracking in natural gas condensate pipeline networks

Physics of Fluids, 2023
Offshore pipelines are hailed as the “lifeline” of an offshore oil and gas production system and are essential for offshore oil and gas development. Component tracing technologies for the oil and gas multiphase transmission pipeline networks need to be ...

Two-Stage Optimal Dispatch of Electricity-Natural Gas Networks Considering Natural Gas Pipeline Leakage and Linepack

IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid
The interdependence of electricity and natural gas networks (ENGNs) has led to increased complexity and competing interests among stakeholders. In the event of a leakage failure in a natural gas pipeline, the changes in pipeline parameters pose ...

Transient-State Natural Gas Transmission in Gunbarrel Pipeline Networks

INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2020
We study the energy consumption minimization problems of natural gas transmission in gunbarrel structured networks. In particular, we consider the transient-state dynamics of natural gas and the compressor’s nonlinear working domain and min-up-and-down constraints.

Supply resilience assessment of natural gas pipeline network systems

Journal of Cleaner Production, 2023
Resilience is one of the important components of system safety evaluation and optimization, the research of which for natural gas pipeline network system (NGPNS) is still in initial stage, especially for the resilience indexes and process description. To evaluate the resilience of NGPNS more synthetically and practically, considering different types of

Seismic Vulnerability of a Natural Gas Pipeline Network

Pipelines 2008, 2008
In this paper, a landslide prone area in Istanbul has been studied to show the seismic vulnerability of a proposed natural gas pipeline network. The area is located 9 km away to the north of the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ). NAFZ is seismically very active and a major earthquake is expected within the next 30 years.

Vulnerability analysis of a natural gas pipeline network based on network flow

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2020
Abstract A vulnerability analysis of the transportation capacity of a natural-gas pipeline network based on network flow was proposed. This analysis focused on the inherent properties instead of the environment and probabilities, which are usually considered in conventional risk assessments. The topology of the pipeline network was established in the
