John Calvin on the Intersection of Natural, Roman, and Mosaic Law

open access: yesPerichoresis: The Theological Journal of Emanuel University, 2022
Although there are many studies on John Calvin’s teaching on natural law, the relation between natural law and Roman law has received relatively less attention.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Anscombe’s Moral Epistemology and the Relevance of Wittgenstein’s Anti-Scepticism

open access: yesEnrahonar: Quaderns de Filosofia, 2020
Elizabeth Anscombe is well-known for her insistence that there are absolutely prohibited actions, though she is somewhat obscure about why this is so. Nonetheless, I contend in this paper that Anscombe is more concerned with the epistemology of absolute ...

Pagans and Theologians: An Examination of the Use of Christian Sources in Niels Hemmingsen’s De Lege Naturae

open access: yesPerichoresis: The Theological Journal of Emanuel University, 2022
At the conclusion of his De lege naturae apodictica methodus, a treatise on the law of nature, how it is grasped by the human mind, and how it coheres with the Decalogue, Niels Hemmingsen claims to have eschewed the use of theological sources in his ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

A Mistake of Natural Law: Sir William Blackstone and the Anglican Way

open access: yesUniversity of Bologna Law Review, 2019
It is said that no book on the common law surpasses the importance of Sir William Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Laws of England. But it is also said that the Commentaries is of questionable merit, with aspects of it downright incoherent.

Stoma‐Shell Nanoarchitecture for Enhanced Plasma Confinement Catalysis in Synthesis of Ethanol from CO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐energy electron impact in plasma catalysis often causes excessive dissociation of active intermediates, limiting C2+ product selectivity. To address this challenge, a bio‐inspired stoma‐shell nanoarchitecture is designed to decouple electron impact from catalytic reaction zones.

La crisis del humanismo: una revisión y rehabilitación de los supuestos del humanismo cristiano ante los desafíos del antihumanismo contemporáneo

open access: yesFranciscanum, 2019
After the excesses and contradictions that led to the different humanisms that characterized modernity, both illustrated and delayed, contemporary thought has fallen into a pessimism, to some extent justified, regarding the emancipating and humanizing ...

Switchable Supramolecular Adhesive by Tuning Interfacial Bonding and Modulus

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supramolecular adhesive (HyDiP) shows reversible adhesion and recyclability. In the dehydrated state, it is dense, stiff (E ≈445 MPa), transparent, and provides strong bonding with adhesion strengths up to 4.65 MPa. In the hydrated state, it becomes porous, soft (E ≈0.11 MPa), and detaches easily, enabling sustainable high‐strength applications ...
