Behavior of Natural Pozzolana-Lime-stabilized Clayey Soils Artificially Contaminated by Sulfates

Jordan Journal of Civil Engineering, 2023
The use of lime in sulfate-bearing clayey soils has historically caused structural damage to infrastructures due to the formation of an expansive ettringite mineral. In this paper, a research was conducted to study the effectiveness of natural pozzolana (NP) for providing better stabilization of sulfate-bearing soils.

Mineralogy and thermal analysis of natural pozzolana opal shale with nano-pores

Journal of Wuhan University of Technology-Mater. Sci. Ed., 2017
Thermodynamic stability, microvoid distribution and phases transformation of natural pozzolana opal shale (POS) were studied systematically in this work. XRD analysis showed that opal-CT, including microcrystal cristobalite and tridymite, is a major component of POS.

Mechanical and Thermal Properties of HSC with Fine Natural Pozzolana as SCM

Materials Science Forum, 2015
The article describes the influence of fine natural pozzolana as supplementary cementitious material on the properties of high strength concrete. Natural pozzolana (NP) is a porous material which results in higher porosities and thus lower compressive strength when used in high replacement levels. But if only a small part of cement (up to 10% of weight)

Effect of natural pozzolana on microstructural behavior and hydraulic conductivity of lime-stabilized clayey soil

Innovative Infrastructure Solutions, 2021
Considerable changes in mechanical and hydraulic conductivity of soil are produced due to the micro- and macrostructural modification after lime treatment, which influences the water flow and the transport of contaminants in soil. According to the positive results obtained from the stabilization of the clayey soils with the combination of lime and ...

Sulphate resistance of type V cements with limestone filler and natural pozzolana

Cement and Concrete Composites, 2000
Sulphate performance of concrete depends primarily on permeability. Under severe conditions of sulphate exposure, low-permeability concrete is prescribed and it must also be made with high sulphate resisting cement. For portland cement, the sulphate resistance depends on the C3A content and the amount of CH produced at early stages of hydration.

Properties of SCC prepared using natural pozzolana and industrial wastes as mineral fillers

Cement and Concrete Composites, 2015
Abstract The high unit cost of self-consolidating concrete (SCC) resulting from the use of conventional filler materials, such as fly ash or silica fume, has been identified as the main hindrance to its widespread use particularly at places where these materials are not available locally.

Properties of Mortars with Natural Pozzolana and Limestone-Based Blended Cements

ACI Materials Journal, 2011
This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the consistency, compressive strength, water sorptivity, chloride ion permeability, electrical resistivity, and sulfate resistance of mortars made with plain and blended cements. Plain (CEM I 42.5 R) and blended cements, including portland pozzolana cements (CEM II A-P 42.5 R and CEM ...

Effect of natural pozzolana and marble powder on the properties of self-compacting concrete

Construction and Building Materials, 2012
Abstract The objective of this investigation is to examine the effect of substitution of cement with natural pozzolana and marble powder on the rheological and mechanical properties of self-compacting mortar (SCM) and self compacting concrete (SCC). Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) was partially replaced by different percentages of pozzolana and marble

Effect of Recycled Concrete Aggregates and Natural Pozzolana on Rheology of Self-Compacting Concrete

Key Engineering Materials, 2014
Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a very fluid concrete in which its compaction can take place under the effect of its own weight, without vibration. SCC is characterized by its high volume of paste, and the use of superplasticizers. Very little work is reported in the literature on the use of recycled aggregates in SCC.

Mechanical properties and durability of mortar and concrete containing natural pozzolana and limestone blended cements

Cement and Concrete Composites, 2007
The benefits of limestone filler (LF) and natural pozzolana (NP) as partial replacement of Portland cement are well established. Economic and environmental advantages by reducing CO2 emission are well known. However, both supplementary materials have certain shortfalls.
