Ingestion doses from radionuclides in seafood before and after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
The presence of radionuclides in seafood following the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident in March 2011 have led to widespread and persistent concerns over seafood safety.

Study of Natural Radioactivity of Slovak Cements

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2013
Building materials belongs to the sources causing direct radiation exposure, therefore the natural radionuclide content of building materials is necessary to be still discussed over the world.

Ecosystem uptake and transfer of Sellafield-derived radiocarbon (14C). Part 1. The Irish Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ecosystem uptake and transfer processes of Sellafield-derived radiocarbon (14C) within the Irish Sea were examined. Highly variable activities in sediment, seawater and biota indicate complex 14C dispersal and uptake dynamics.

A FAP‐Targeted SMDC Platform Enables Synergistic Radionuclide–Chemotherapy with PET‐Guided Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fibroblast activation protein (FAP)‐targeted small molecule–drug conjugate (SMDC) platform is developed to integrate PET imaging with synergistic radionuclide–chemotherapy. Linker chemistry governs stability, exposure, and tolerability, with the VC linker providing superior in vivo performance.

The Search for Supernova-produced Radionuclides in Terrestrial Deep-sea Archives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
An enhanced concentration of 60Fe was found in a deep ocean's crust in 2004 in a layer corresponding to an age of ~2 Myr. The confirmation of this signal in terrestrial archives as supernova-induced and detection of other supernova-produced radionuclides

Natural Occurring Radionuclide Materials

open access: yes, 2011
The stellar material, from which the earth was formed, about 4.5 billion years ago, contained many unstable nuclides (Scholten and Timmermans, 1996). Some of the original primordial nuclides, whose half-lives are about as long as the earth's age, are still present.

Multifunctional Eutectic Mixtures Enable Integrated Recovery of U, Pu, and Sr From Nuclear Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel class of multifunctional eutectic mixtures, crafted from crown ether and organophosphorus molecules, achieves highly efficient, simultaneous recovery of uranium, plutonium, and strontium from nuclear waste. The material operates via a dual “coordination‐encapsulation” mechanism within self‐assembled reverse‐micelle structures, offering a ...

Geoinformation modeling of radioactive contamination of territories on the example of mines of the “ShidGSK” mining and processing plant

open access: yesBiosystems Diversity
The aim of the study was to model the territorial distribution and statistical assessment of migration through the trophic chain of naturally occurring radionuclides released into the environment as a result of uranium ore mining.

Light‐Switched Mesenchymal Stem Cells for In Situ Exosome Amplification in Craniofacial Bone Defect Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Light‐switchable MSCs (MSC‐UCNPs) were constructed by intracellular incorporation of UCNPs. Upon 980 nm irradiation, UCNPs emitted localized ultraviolet light (365 nm), activating the ROS/HEXB/LAMP1 signaling pathway to suppress lysosome–multivesicular body fusion and thereby enhance exosome biogenesis. Embedded within an injectable hydrogel, MSC‐UCNPs
