Impact of wildfire and windfall on phytocenocis of stone pine-broad-leaved forest (by the data of 60-years monitoring) [PDF]
We present the results of an analysis of forest stand dynamics on a permanent trial plot in the Sikhote-Alin biosphere reserve (Primorsky Krai). The materials of revisions for the period 1958–2019 were used, where the plot was established on young growth

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The role of the protected area concept in protecting the world’s largest natural reserve: Antarctica
Should the entire Antarctic continent and the surrounding islands be recognised as a ‘protected area’ or as a continent where certain areas, just like anywhere else, may be designated as protected areas?

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

LE RÔLE DE L’INFRASTRUCTURE DE TRANSPORT DANS LA FRAGMENTATION DES PAYSAGES NATURELS DES RÉSERVES NATURELLES L’EPICÉA DE RÉSONANCE DE LĂPUŞNA (LES CARPATES ORIENTALES) ET LES HAUTS DE CHARTREUSE (LES ALPES FRANÇAISES) [PDF]
The major premise of this article is: accessibility in natural reserves could become a risk factor for protected natural elements, if the ways of access inside of natural reserve are not correlated with the preserve purposes.
