Rheological properties of maleated natural rubber and natural rubber blends

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2002
Two types of natural rubber (ADS and STR 5L) were used to prepare maleated natural rubber (MNR). Melt rheological properties of MNRs (i.e. MNR-ADS and MNR-STR) and their blends with the same type of natural rubber were quantified. We found that the Mooney viscosities of MNR-ADS/ADS blends were higher than those of MNR-STR/STR 5L blends.

High‐Performance Recyclable Polyester Elastomers Through Transient Strain‐Stiffening

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transient strain‐crystallization simultaneously strengthens and toughens block polyester elastomers while conserving recyclability. Using controlled polymerization catalysis and commercial monomers, block polyester elastomers outperform current commercial elastomers, entering a new region of tensile mechanical property space.

A Novel Option for Waste Tire Rubber Reutilization: Refrigerant in Solid-State Cooling Devices [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Management of discarded tires is a compelling environmental issue worldwide. Although several approaches have been developed to recycle waste tire rubbers, their application in solid-state cooling is still unexplored. Considering the high barocaloric potential verified for elastomers, the use of waste tire rubber (WTR) as refrigerant in solid-state ...

Large barocaloric effects at low pressures in natural rubber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Barocaloric effect in vulcanized natural rubber (V-NR) has been investigated. Direct measurements of the temperature change ({\Delta}T) around room temperature (283-333 K) resulted in large values, above 10 K, for a pressure change of 173 MPa. A power law was proposed to fit {\Delta}T as function of the maximum pressure, showing to be suitable for the ...

Rubber based agroforestry systems: Options for smallholders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Representing more than 80% of the total rubber areas, smallholder rubber plantations and its system, in Indonesia, are very unique in the world. The system, often referred to as "jungle rubber" is multi-strata in nature, and rubber is not the only crop ...
