The evolution of substructure II: linking dynamics to environment
We present results from a series of high-resolution N-body simulations that focus on the formation and evolution of eight dark matter halos, each of order a million particles within the virial radius. We follow the time evolution of hundreds of satellite

Lambda-Cold Dark Matter, Stellar Feedback, and the Galactic Halo Abundance Pattern [PDF]
(Abridged) The hierarchical formation scenario for the stellar halo requires the accretion and disruption of dwarf galaxies, yet low-metallicity halo stars are enriched in alpha-elements compared to similar, low-metallicity stars in dwarf spheroidal ...

Forming Massive Terrestrial Satellites through Binary-exchange Capture
The number of planetary satellites around solid objects in the inner solar system is small either because they are difficult or unlikely to form or because they do not survive for astronomical timescales.

Naringenin Promotes Myotube Formation and Maturation for Cultured Meat Production
Cultured meat is an emerging technology for manufacturing meat through cell culture rather than animal rearing. Under most existing culture systems, the content and maturity of in vitro generated myotubes are insufficient, limiting the application and ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

An overview of the Amazonian Aerosol Characterization Experiment 2008 (AMAZE-08) [PDF]
The Amazon Basin provides an excellent environment for studying the sources, transformations, and properties of natural aerosol particles and the resulting links between biological processes and climate. With this framework in mind, the Amazonian Aerosol

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Stability of Satellite Planes in M31 II: Effects of the Dark Subhalo Population [PDF]
The planar arrangement of nearly half the satellite galaxies of M31 has been a source of mystery and speculation since it was discovered. With a growing number of other host galaxies showing these satellite galaxy planes, their stability and longevity ...

Addressing Economic Insecurities Can Improve Patient‐Reported Outcomes in Lupus
Background Economic insecurities, such as food, housing, transportation, and financial challenges, are modifiable risk factors and influence patient‐reported outcomes (PROs) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We examined: 1) associations between economic insecurities and PROs; 2) the impact of screening and addressing economic insecurities during ...
