Bare Surfaces Analysis within Ograzhden Mountain (Bulgarian Part)
The presence of bare surfaces is one of the main indicators for the degradation of natural ecosystems. The spread of bare surfaces and respectively the lack of vegetation cover is a serious threat to the sustainable development of complex environments ...

Surface reflection model estimation from naturally illuminated image sequences [PDF]
This thesis addresses the problem of estimating the surface reflection model of objects observed in a terrestrial scene, illuminated by natural illumination; that is, a scene which is illuminated by sun and sky light alone.

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Mapping fire affected areas in northern Western Australia - towards an automatic approach
Wildfires across northern Australia are a growing problem with more than 2.5 million hectares being burnt each year. Accordingly, remote sensing has been used as a tool to routinely monitor and map fire histories.

Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.

Energetic Offset in Organic Solar Cells‐ Importance, Confusion and Outlook
Energetic offsets in organic solar cells (OSCs) remain a subject of debate due to measurement‐ and lab‐dependent discrepancies. This Perspective clarifies the physical origins of these variations and identifies temperature‐dependent electro‐optical methods as a reliable approach to obtain consistent offset values.
