Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Shaping electrospray plume with convergent sound beams

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Electrospray ionization (ESI) is one of the mainstream ionization techniques for mass spectrometry (MS) nowadays. Here, we present a new variant of ESI-MS setup, in which an electrospray emitter points to the mass spectrometer’s orifice while ...

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

Data Science: A Natural Ecosystem

open access: yesInformation Fusion
This manuscript provides a systemic and data-centric view of what we term essential data science, as a natural ecosystem with challenges and missions stemming from the fusion of data universe with its multiple combinations of the 5D complexities (data structure, domain, cardinality, causality, and ethics) with the phases of the data life cycle.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Regulation of addiction by the insular cortex: The interplay between interoception and cognitive function

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The insular cortex (IC) functions as a pivotal core for interoception. Functional magnetic resonance imaging reveals how the IC integrates internal and external stimuli by observing its neural activation patterns.
