Multi‐omic profiling of squamous cell lung cancer identifies metabolites and related genes associated with squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

The IFNγ‐CIITA‐MHC II axis modulates melanoma cell susceptibility to NK‐cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Natural killer (NK) cells play a central role in anti‐melanoma immunity. However, melanoma cells adapt during co‐culture by upregulating CIITA and MHC II in response to interferon gamma (IFNγ), thereby evading NK‐cell lysis. Blocking IFNγ signaling or treatment with dimethyl fumarate/simvastatin counteracts this immune escape and maintains NK‐cell ...

Aedes aegypti saliva modulates inflammasome activation and facilitates flavivirus infection in vitro

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Mosquito borne flaviviruses such as dengue and Zika represent a major public health problem due to globalization and propagation of susceptible vectors worldwide. Vertebrate host responses to dengue and Zika infections include the processing and

Protein O‐glycosylation in the Bacteroidota phylum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Species of the Bacteroidota phylum exhibit a unique O‐glycosylation system. It modifies noncytoplasmic proteins on a specific amino acid motif with a shared glycan core but a species‐specific outer glycan. A locus of multiple glycosyltransferases responsible for the synthesis of the outer glycan has been identified.

Bioinformatics analysis identifies TGF-β signaling pathway-associated molecular subtypes and gene signature in diabetic foot

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The role of transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) in inflammation and immune response is established, but the mechanism of TGF-β signaling pathway-related genes (TRGs) in diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is not fully understood.

Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Cannabinoid overrides triggers of GABAergic plasticity in vestibular circuits and distorts the development of navigation

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Early life exposure to cannabis can result in long-lasting deficits in spatial navigation. We ask if the development of this behavior is subject to early life activity of type I cannabinoid receptor (CB1R) in the vestibular nucleus.
