Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

The cost of natural selection

Journal of Genetics, 1957
Unless selection is very intense, the number of deaths needed to secure the substitution, by natural selection, of one gene for another at a locus, is independent of the intensity of selection. It is often about 30 times the number of organisms in a generation. It is suggested that, in horotelic evolution, the mean time taken for each gene substitution

Does Natural Selection Select for Natural Selection?

2021
Humanity’s colossal ecological crisis is an explicit function of our architectural and socially enforced spaces of occupancy, plots of arrogation, the places in which we choose to live, altering our surroundings, inventing and constructing “our” possessions.
