Drop impact on natural porous stones [PDF]
Drop impact and spreading on three natural porous stones are experimentally determined using high-speed imaging and compared with spreading over an impermeable steel surface. The dynamic non-wetting behavior during spreading and the hydrophobic contact angle >90° is attributed to the presence of an air layer between the droplet and the porous substrate.

Limitations of the Standard Procedure for the Evaluation of Marble and Limestone for Use in Construction: A Critical Analysis and Proposal for Modification [PDF]
The selection of natural stone for each specific use must be based on determinations which assess their technical quality and ensure their suitability for the environment in which they will be utilized. Among the criteria to be considered, a petrographic

By integrating machine learning into flux‐regulated crystallization (FRC), accurate prediction of solvent evaporation rates in real time, improving crystallization control and reducing crystal growth variability by over threefold, is achieved. This enhances the reproducibility and quality of perovskite single crystals, leading to reproducible ...

The RNA code: Nature’s Rosetta Stone [PDF]
Marshall Nirenberg and Heinrich Matthaei initiated their biochemical approach to elucidating the genetic code in 1959, 6 years following the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA (1). At the time, geneticists were using T4 bacteriophage mutagenesis/reversion of plaque morphology toward the same goal by inferring that three mutations were ...

We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles
