Evaluation of Pervaporation and Nanofiltration Membranes for Water Recovery From Thermo‐Responsive Draw Solution

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Integrating thermo‐responsive draw solutions with suitable water‐recovery technologies could enable more efficient hybrid desalination. This study compares pervaporation and nanofiltration, revealing key trade‐offs between water productivity and polymer retention and providing guidance for future FO‐based brine treatment systems.

Characterization of three natural zeolites. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In recent years, great attention has been paid to the application of nano structure materials. Since zeolites have primary particles with at least one dimension in the nanometer scale, they may be regarded as nanomaterials of geological and pedological ...

On Metal Carbonyl Compounds in Catalytic Methanol Synthesis: Detection, Consequences, and Removal

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Deactivation of Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalysts by metal carbonyl compounds in the feed gas is a critical problem in catalytic methanol synthesis. We utilize PTR–MS to identify potential chemical sources, detect contamination in an in‐house CO gas line, and validate filter methods for removing these catalyst poisons before synthesis.

Development of HDTMA-modified Philippine natural zeolite (PNZ) for sulfamethoxazole adsorption

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
The surface of Philippine natural zeolites (PNZs) was modified using the surfactant hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (HDTMA-Cl) to improve its adsorption capacity of sulfamethoxazole (SMX), a persistent organic pollutant and emerging contaminant.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel—An Innovative Approach for Developing an Optimized Methanol‐Based Production Pathway

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Growing air traffic increases the contribution of aviation fuels to global emissions. With few viable alternatives for decarbonizing aviation, Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) are a key lever. Green methanol enables a flexible synthetic production pathway, but realizing a specification‐compliant 100% drop‐in fuel requires overcoming significant ...

Extended batch adsorber analogue model (e‐BAAM) for rapid evaluation of CO2 capture pressure swing adsorption cycles

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This work presents a simplified extended‐batch adsorber analogue model (e‐BAAM) to quantify key performance metrics such as purity, recovery, and energy trends for various pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process cycles for CO2$$ {\mathrm{CO}}_2 $$ capture.
