Intraspecific variation in an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus affects a plant and an AMF community

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 5, Page 2104-2117, December 2026.
Mesocosm placement within the growing facility. Summary Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) show substantial genetic, trait, and functional variation within species. Whether this intraspecific variability has community‐level consequences for plant and AMF communities is unclear.

The Human‐Imprinted Regional Species Pool: Functional Trait Patterns of Commercial and Established Plants

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 11, November 2026.
Urban plant communities assemble from a regional species pool shaped by both ecological processes and horticultural trade, yet how these forces structure its functional composition remains poorly understood. Using a comprehensive trait dataset across herbs, shrubs, and trees, we show that commercially available species occupy narrower and more ...

eDNA On the Go: A Direct Comparison of Fixed and Vehicle Mounted Airborne eDNA Sampling Methods for Terrestrial Vertebrate Species Detection

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 6, November‐December 2026.
This study demonstrates that optimizing sampling design is more important than selecting a specific sampling method, and that different airborne eDNA collection approaches should be viewed as complementary tools suited to different field contexts. We propose that car mounted air DNA sampling could be an effective method for large spatial scale, rapid ...

Can Airborne eDNA Be Used to Assess the Impacts of Invasive Species on Biodiversity?

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 6, November‐December 2026.
We sequenced airborne eDNA to target plant and arthropod communities in woodlands with an invasive forest pest present and woodlands with no known infestations. We did not find differences in plant communities; however, we found site differences in the arthropod communities between the infested and non‐infested sites.

Climate Fiction and the Limits of Representation: Scale, Agency and Futurity

open access: yesFuture Humanities, Volume 4, Issue 2, November 2026.
ABSTRACT This special issue examines the limits of representation in climate fiction. Rather than treating such limits as mere narrative failures to be overcome, the essays understand them in two related ways. They concern both the difficulties of rendering climate change apprehensible and intelligible and the limits of representation as the principal ...
