Water Organization and Hydration‐Dependent Hydroxide Transport in Anion Exchange Membranes (AEM)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydroxide transport in anion exchange membranes is governed by the organization of water within the polymer rather than by hydration alone. A hydration‐window framework is presented to unify transport, swelling, and mechanical stability, providing guidance for designing durable membranes for fuel cells and other hydroxide‐based electrochemical ...

Bio‐Inspired Artificial Ionic Mechanoreceptor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A skin‐inspired artificial mechanoreceptor based on ionic interactions is presented for biomimetic tactile sensing. Pressure‐driven ionic redistribution within microfluidic channels generates a self‐powered electrical signal without external bias. The generated waveform exhibits mechanoreceptor‐like temporal features, including overshoot and undershoot,

Pressure‐Assisted Dimensional Transformation of 2D Hydrogenated Borophene into 0D Boron Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrogenated borophene (HB) is transformed into distinct boron nanostructures through a solvent‐free thermal process. Under flowing nitrogen, hydrogen escape promotes reconstruction into B2O3 nanoplatelets, whereas hydrogen‐induced pressure under sealed conditions facilitates fragmentation into boron quantum dots.

Bodies in nature: Associations between exposure to nature, connectedness to nature, and body image in U.S. adults [PDF]

open access: yesBody Image, 2016
Here, we sought to replicate previous work showing a relationship between connectedness to nature and body appreciation, and extend it by examining associations between exposure to natural environments and other body image-related variables.

Connectedness to nature: Mapping the role of protected areas

Journal of Environmental Management, 2021
Connectedness to nature (CNT) is likely to be a strong influence on how local communities and stakeholders respond to designation and management of protected areas. This study explores relationships between CNT and location, using the Maltese Islands as a case study.

On Human Connectedness with Nature

New Literary History, 1993
T HE CENTRAL THEME of modern environmentalism may well be the idea that humanity's separation from nature lies at the root of the ecological crisis. Most self-proclaimed environmental radicals embrace this notion with an almost religious fervor, but even liberal and moderate environmentalists generally concur at some level.

Elevating nature: Moral elevation increases feelings of connectedness to nature

Journal of Environmental Psychology, 2019
Moral elevation is a self-transcendent positive emotion arising from appraisals of moral excellence, which induces feelings of connectedness to other humans. However, no previous published research has investigated whether the effects of moral elevation extend to facilitate feelings of connection with the natural world. In two studies (Ns = 96 and 232),

There is no “I” in nature: The influence of self-awareness on connectedness to nature

Journal of Environmental Psychology, 2005
Abstract Environmentalists and ecopsychologists claim that focusing on “I” leads people to feel less connected to nature. The present study empirically tests this argument by manipulating participants’ objective self-awareness (OSA). Heightened OSA has been shown to increase participants’ self-focus, but also increase the impact of individuals ...
