Bis[1]benzothieno[1,4]thiaborins as a Platform for BODIPY Singlet Oxygen Photosensitizers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 29, Issue 36, June 27, 2023., 2023
We present the synthesis and physicochemical studies of two regioisomeric π‐electron‐extended [1,4]thiaborins annulated with two benzothiophene units. They were used as scaffolds to construct thiaborin‐based BODIPY singlet‐oxygen photosensitizers with evident potential for use as photocatalysts.

Promising Markers in the Context of Mesenchymal Stem/Stromal Cells Subpopulations with Unique Properties

open access: yesStem Cells International, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The heterogeneity of the mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) population poses a challenge to researchers and clinicians, especially those observed at the population level. What is more, the lack of precise evidences regarding MSCs developmental origin even further complicate this issue. As the available evidences indicate several possible pathways of

Wild bee larval food composition in five European cities

open access: yesEcology, Volume 103, Issue 9, September 2022., 2022
Abstract Urbanization poses threats and opportunities for the biodiversity of wild bees. At the same time, cities can harbor diverse wild bee assemblages, partly due to the unique plant assemblages that provide resources. While bee dietary preferences have been investigated in various studies, bee dietary studies have been conducted mostly in nonurban ...

Bidirectional Effect of Repeated Exposure to Extremely Low‐Frequency Electromagnetic Field (50 Hz) of 1 and 7 mT on Oxidative/Antioxidative Status in Rat’s Brain: The Prediction for the Vulnerability to Diseases

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Studies reported evidence for opposite effects of extremely low‐frequency electromagnetic field (EMF): harmful, including the oxidative stress induction, and beneficial, such as the activation of antioxidant defense. People's exposure to EMF is often repeated or prolonged, and it is important to consider the cumulative effect of such kind of exposure ...

Sexual conflict in a changing environment

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 96, Issue 5, Page 1854-1867, October 2021., 2021
ABSTRACT Sexual conflict has extremely important consequences for various evolutionary processes including its effect on local adaptation and extinction probability during environmental change. The awareness that the intensity and dynamics of sexual conflict is highly dependent on the ecological setting of a population has grown in recent years, but ...

Drivers of Solidago species invasion in Central Europe—Case study in the landscape of the Carpathian Mountains and their foreground

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 11, Issue 18, Page 12429-12444, September 2021., 2021
In this article, we analyzed the drives of distribution of two noxious invasive in Europe, Asia, and Australia plants. Besides the detection of main invasion drivers, we also discussed the findings to establish the best strategies of control of populations of these species at a large spatial extent.
