Isotope systematics of subfossil, historical, and modern Nautilus macromphalus from New Caledonia

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Cephalopod carbonate geochemistry underpins studies ranging from Phanerozoic, global-scale change to outcrop-scale paleoecological reconstructions.

Novel Iridovirus in a Nautilus (Nautilus Spp.) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, 2006
Intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies suggestive of iridovirus infection were observed in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues from a nautilus ( Nautilus spp.) that died without premonitory signs. Transmission electron microscopy revealed enveloped, hexagonal, viral particles that measured approximately 176 nm in diameter.

Endovascular treatment of wide-necked intracranial aneurysms using the Nautilus Intrasaccular System: initial case series of 41 patients at a single center

open access: yesJournal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, 2022
Background Endovascular treatment of intracranial wide-necked and bifurcation aneurysms (WNBA) is technically challenging. The Nautilus Intrasaccular System is designed to provide a mechanical barrier at the aneurysm neck to support coil embolization. We

Intraspecific variation of phragmocone chamber volumes throughout ontogeny in the modern nautilid Nautilus and the Jurassic ammonite Normannites [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2015
Nautilus remains of great interest to palaeontologists after a long history of actualistic comparisons and speculations on aspects of the palaeoecology of fossil cephalopods, which are otherwise impossible to assess.

Effect of cosmic rays on the resonant gravitational wave detector NAUTILUS at temperature T=1.5 K [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The interaction between cosmic rays and the gravitational wave bar detector NAUTILUS is experimentally studied with the aluminum bar at temperature of T=1.5 K. The results are compared with those obtained in the previous runs when the bar was at T=0.14 K.

Study of the coincidences between the gravitational wave detectors EXPLORER and NAUTILUS in 2001 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We report the result from a search for bursts of gravitational waves using data collected by the cryogenic resonant detectors EXPLORER and NAUTILUS during the year 2001, for a total measuring time of 90 days.

Swimming mechanics and propulsive efficiency in the chambered nautilus [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2018
The chambered nautilus (Nautilus pompilius) encounters severe environmental hypoxia during diurnal vertical movements in the ocean. The metabolic cost of locomotion (Cmet) and swimming performance depend on how efficiently momentum is imparted to the ...

Isotopic evidence concerning the habitat of Nautilus macromphalus in New Caledonia

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Modern nautilids (Nautilus and Allonautilus) have often been studied by paleontologists to better understand the anatomy and ecology of fossil relatives. Because direct observations of these animals are difficult, the analysis of light stable isotopes (C,

Regional Cooperation for Nuclear Spent Fuel Management in East Asia: Costs, Benefits and Challenges – Part II

open access: yesJournal for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament, 2019
East Asia is home to some of the most dynamic economies on earth, but also a locus of current and historical national and international conflicts. Some of the largest economies lack domestic energy resources, and nuclear power has been adopted as a ...
