Numerical Modeling of Photothermal Self‐Excited Composite Oscillators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We present a numerical framework for simulating photothermal self‐excited oscillations. The driving mechanism is elucidated by highlighting the roles of inertia and overshoot, as well as the phase lag between the thermal moment and the oscillation angle, which together construct the feedback loop between the system state and the environmental stimulus.

Predicting Macrophage Spatial Localization from Single‐Cell Transcriptomes to Uncover Disease Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a machine‐learning framework entitled MERLIN that infers the microanatomical localization of macrophages from single‐cell transcriptomic data in structured organs such as the kidney and brain. Applying this method to existing datasets from models of acute kidney injury and diabetic nephropathy uncovered spatially resolved insights ...

A Plug‐and‐Play Volume Minimizing Micromixer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microscale fluid mixing has numerous applications where rapid and efficient mixing is required, including drug discovery, bio‐analysis and point‐of‐care diagnostics. Conventional soft lithography processes, however, make the integration of robust and reliable mixing difficult to implement in practice, especially across different flow rates ...

A Study on the Influence of Unsteady Forces on the Roll Characteristics of a Submarine during Free Ascent from Great Depth

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The maximum diving depth of modern submarines has always been increasing. Although this has been useful and in some cases necessary, it usually comes with some risks.

Theoretical and Experimental Study of the Torque Impact and Shaft Response during the Rapid Engaging Process of a Gas Turbine

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
Gas turbines produce torque impacts during the rapid engaging process, which could obviously affect the safety of the propulsion shafting. To analyze the impact load and the corresponding response of a shaft, a calculation method is proposed for the ...
