Inverse three-dimensional method for fast evaluation of temperature and heat flux fields during rolling process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceMonitoring and controlling flatness during the rolling process becomes critical for ensuring the product quality. Flatness defects are due to highly three-dimensional phenomena. Indeed, strips with different widths are rolled during

A variable kinematic doubly-curved MITC9 shell element for the analysis of laminated composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The present article considers the linear static analysis of composite shell structures with double-curvature geometry by means of a shell finite element with variable through-the-thickness kinematic.

Local Thermal Conductivity Patterning in Rotating Lattice Crystals of Anisotropic Sb2S3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microscale control of thermal conductivity in Sb2S3 is demonstrated via laser‐induced rotating lattice crystals. Thermal conductivity imaging reveals marked thermal transport anisotropy, with the c axis featuring amorphous‐like transport, whereas in‐plane directions (a, b) exhibit 3.5x and 1.7x larger thermal conductivity.

Bending and Free Vibration Analysis of Nonlocal Functionally Graded Nanocomposite Timoshenko Beam Model Rreinforced by SWBNNT Based on Modified Coupled Stress Theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanostructures, 2013
In this article, the bending and free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) nanocomposites Timoshenko beam model reinforced by single-walled boron nitride nanotube (SWBNNT) using micro-mechanical approach embedded in an elastic medium is studied.

Trap‐Modified Inverted Organic Photodetectors via Layer‐by‐Layer Processing with Poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Trap state engineering in inverted organic photodetectors (OPDs) is achieved via combined layer‐by‐layer (LbL) processing and poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK) incorporation. LbL reduces the trap density while PVK additives gradually shift trap states from shallow band‐edge to deep mid‐gap levels, tailoring the energy distribution.

Anomalous Stiffening of a Conjugated Polymer During Electrochemical Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The electromechanical response of a thienothiophene‐based conjugated polymer with triethylene glycol side chains is investigated. Electrochemical nanoindentation and atomic force microscopy reveal a modest and reversible increase in elastic modulus at room temperature upon electrochemical oxidation.

Dual‐Interface Engineering of the Source Electrode to Overcome the Intrinsic Injection‐Leakage Trade‐Off in Organic Schottky Barrier Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A charge injection layer is introduced via RIE to decouple the dual functions of the source electrode: lowering contact resistance through doping to enhance charge injection, while SAM modification on the top surface minimizes leakage current. This strategy enables OSBTs to achieve a high on/off ratio with improved stability and performance.

Control of dynamic response of the functionally graded smart sandwich beam coupled variable Kelvin–Voigt–Pasternak's model

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
Navier’s theoretical solution of the dynamic responses of a rectangular smart beam embedded in a variable viscoelastic foundation is presented by applying a higher-order shear deformation theory.

Self‐Hybridized Exciton‐Polariton Photodetectors From Layered Metal‐Organic Chalcogenolates

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐hybridized exciton‐polariton photodetectors are demonstrated using high refractive index mithrene, eliminating the need for top mirrors. This simplified architecture enables tunable sub‐bandgap photodetection via lower exciton‐polariton states and enhanced carrier transport through ultrafast polariton group velocities.

Unified Geometrically Nonlinear Formulation of All Higher-order Shear Deformation Theories for Cross-ply Plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Several higher-order shear deformation theories have been proposed for laminated plates, based on the expansions of displacements across the thickness, which are the same for all layers.
