Behavioural compensation by drivers of a simulator when using a vision enhancement system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Technological progress is suggesting dramatic changes to the tasks of the driver, with the general aim of making driving environment safer. Before any of these technologies are implemented, empirical research is required to establish if these devices do,

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Simulating Method of Ship's Turning-basins Designing [PDF]

open access: yesTransNav, 2011
The paper presents one of the methods of ship's turning-basins designing. The simulating method is more and more often used to the defining parameters projected turning-basins, testing of existing turning-basins and the improving of the manoeuvring ...

Mobile Bridge - A Portable Design Simulator for Ship Bridge Interfaces [PDF]

open access: yesTransNav, 2018
Developing new software components for ship bridges is challenging. Mostly due to high costs of testing these components in realistic environments. To reduce these costs the development process is divided into different stages. Whereas, the final test on

Measuring Workload Differences Between Short-term Memory and Long-term Memory Scenarios in a Simulated Flight Environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Four highly experienced Air Force pilots each flew four simulated flight scenarios. Two scenarios required a great deal of aircraft maneuvering. The other two scenarios involved less maneuvering, but required remembering a number of items.

From Crowd Simulation to Robot Navigation in Crowds [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, 2020
This letter presents the result of a study aiming at investigating to what extent the results obtained in the Crowd Simulation domain could be used to control a mobile robot navigating among people. It turns out that Crowd Simulation relies on two assumptions that would not hold for a real mobile robot, a test protocol has therefore been designed in ...

Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,
