Hydrogen in Nb/Hf/Nb and Nb/Ti/Nb thin films
Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1991Abstract Thin films with layer sequences Nb/Hf/Nb and Nb/Ti/Nb/Au were prepared by electron-beam evaporation in ultrahigh vacuum. The interfaces were characterized by measuring the momentary surface properties by low energy electron diffraction and Auger electron spectroscopy after various evaporation steps.

The NBS Atomic Time Scale System: AT(NBS), SAT(NBS), and UTC(NBS)
24th Annual Symposium on Frequency Control, 1970The accuracy involved both the 5 part in IOL3 uncertainty in NBS I11 and the frequency dispersion of the ensemble after calibration. To determine the precision capabilities, noise models were established for the time dispersion character is t ics of each clock in the ensemble, Some theoretical considerations based on these models yielded very ...

Superconducting transition in Nb/Gd/Nb trilayers
Physical Review B, 1996We report the observation of oscillations in the superconducting transition temperature {ital T}{sub {ital c}} of Nb/Gd/Nb trilayers as the Gd layer thickness {ital d}{sub Gd} is varied. The {ital T}{sub {ital c}} minimum occurs at {ital d}{sub Gd}{approx_equal}13 A.

Overdamped Nb∕Al–AlOx∕Nb Josephson junctions
Applied Physics Letters, 2005We report the fabrication and characterization of overdamped Nb∕Al–AlOx∕Nb superconductor–insulator–superconductor Josephson junction whose fabrication process derives from that of the well-known hysteretic junctions. These junctions are an intermediate state between the superconductor–normal metal–superconductor and the superconductor–insulator ...

Resistive transitions in Nb/Cu0.41Ni0.59/Nb trilayers
JETP Letters, 2008The superconducting phase transition in Nb/Cu0.41Ni0.59/Nb trilayers, with superconducting (S) Nb and ferromagnetic (F) Cu0.41Ni0.59, has been experimentally studied as a function of the F-layer thickness by measuring the temperature dependence of the electrical resistance R (T).

Nonequilibrium phenomena in superconducting double-barrier structure Nb/Nb'/Nb
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1994Abstract We report the first experimental data indicating on the influence of the nonequilibrium quasiparticles with the energy near gap in SDBS in the case when the injection rate of the quasiparticles with the higher energy exceeds the inelastic relaxation rate.

Interdiffusion in Nb-Mo, Nb-Ti and Nb-Zr Systems
Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2012Diffusion couple technique is used to study interdiffusion in Nb-Mo, Nb-Ti and Nb-Zr systems. Interdiffusion coefficients at different temperatures and compositions are determined using the relation developed by Wagner. The change in activation energy for interdiffusion with composition is determined.

NBS-4 and NBS-6: The NBS Primary Frequency Standards
Metrologia, 1977The NBS primary frequency standard NBS-4 has been operating since January 1973. NBS-5 operated from January 1973 until March 1974. At this time NBS-5 was modified significantly and redesignated NBS-6. The extent and character of these design changes are discussed. NBS-6 operation and evaluation began in March 1975.

Improved Nb-Si-Nb SNAP devices
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1983We have compared the tunneling characteristics of Nb-Si-Nb junctions whose amorphous silicon barriers have been sputtered in pure Ar with those sputtered Ar-H 2 plasmas as well as in various combinations. We observe lower subgap currents with composite barriers which comprise a central region which is hydrogenated but which is sandwiched between two ...

NBS reference retroreflectometer
Applied Optics, 1980A long-range retroreflectance instrument has been built in the photometric range of the Radiometric Physics Division of the NBS. It is designed to measure photometric properties of retroreflectors for different geometries. It satisfies many needs of the measurement community, and it is planned to use this instrument as the basis for a Measurement ...
