Discrete simulation of NC machining

Proceedings of the third annual symposium on Computational geometry - SCG '87, 1987
We describe a method for simulating and verifying the correctness of Numerical Control (NC) programs. NC programs contain the sequence of cutting tool movements which machine raw stock into a finished object. Our method is based on a discrete approximation of the object by a set of points.

The NC Grinding Machine Rebuilding for TG30 NC Lathe

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Based on the characters of NC lathe and NC grinding machine, the NC grinding machine rebuilding for TG30 NC lathe is studied in this paper. According to the geometric parameters of grinding, choose appropriate TG30 NC lathe, keep the driving system of spindle and the feeding function of two axle linkage of NC lathe, increase the high speed rotating ...

Incomplete mesh offset for NC machining

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2007
Abstract In this paper, the incomplete triangular mesh including reversed faces and gaps between boundary edges is directly offset for NC machining. For three-axis machining, vertical faces are deleted and the face normal vectors directing the lower part of model are changed to upward.

NC machining with G-buffer method

Proceedings of the 18th annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques, 1991
The G-buffer method is applied to NC machining. A total NC system is created that consists of all essential functions, such as tool path generation, path verification, and feed rate control. Moreover, any combination of object surface and tool shape is acceptable.

Enabling Machining Vision Using STEP-NC

ASME 2012 International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference, 2012
STEP-NC is a new data format for manufacturing control. One of its applications is to enable integrated on machine measurement of machining processes using vision systems and other sensors. In this paper we describe the manufacturing process and manufacturing resource models in STEP-NC that can be used to enable this type of measurement.

Realization of STEP-NC enabled machining

Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, 2006
Abstract A STEP-compliant CNC machine tool that demonstrated a G-code free machining scenario is presented. The aim of this research is to showcase the advantages of, and evaluate, STEP-NC—a new NC data model—by implementing it in a legacy CNC system.

Spline interpolation technique for NC machines

Computers in Industry, 1992
Abstract A controller capable of spline interpolation is implemented. The surface to be machined is represented by 3 D splines which can be generated from a set of control points. The algorithm for spline interpolation is a part of the controller and communicates the data directly to the controller in real time, thereby avoiding the need for large ...

NC Machine Work and Computer Integration

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1990
Abstract In this paper we discuss changes in the division of labour and the requirements for qualification along the production chain concentrating on operations planning, NC programming and NC machining. The field of interest is companies within the engineering industry that use integrated CADCAM and NC machine tools.

NC machining of free form surfaces

Computer-Aided Design, 1987
The continuation of a trend towards more user-friendly, interactive CADCAM systems, prompted the creation of a prototype software package called CISPA (Computer Interactive Surfaces Pre-APT). This system uses a menudriven front end with graphical feedback to guide a user through curve and free form surface definition resulting in a mathematical model ...
