NC machining of arbitrarily shaped pockets
Computer-Aided Design, 1978Abstract Machining mechanical parts requires a great deal of area cleaning, i.e. cutting away all material within given boundaries. This paper describes a fast algorithm, implemented in the SAAB-Adapt processor, to compute the necessary cutter paths for machining arbitrarily shaped areas (pockets) bounded by straight lines and arcs.
