Eastern North American Liana Distributions Reveal Conservation and Climate Mitigation Potential

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim We created the first high‐resolution distribution maps for lianas at a continental scale to address critical knowledge gaps in invasive species management, forest carbon storage, and temperate forest ecology. Location The Nearctic realm and Eastern North America. Methods We developed a cascading modelling approach using Google Earth Engine

Drought severity estimation using NDWI index in Parbhani district of Maharashtra

open access: yesJournal of Agrometeorology
The study was carried out to investigate the impact of drought on vegetation in Maharashtra's Parbhani district, utilizing remote sensing techniques. Analysis of Landsat 8 data for 2015 (a drought year) and 2020 (a normal year) reveals fluctuations in the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) closely correlated with rainfall patterns.

Monitoring 2015 drought in West Java using Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI)

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2018
Drought is a slow developing phenomenon that accumulates over period and affecting various sectors. It is one of natural hazards that occurs each year, particularly in Indonesia over Australian Monsoon period. During drought event, vegetation's cover can be affected by water stress.

Characterizing Landslide‐Induced Floods Using the SWOT Mission: A Case Study on the Chilcotin River, Canada

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract Monitoring small rivers during extreme events is challenging, especially in remote areas. This study assesses the accuracy of the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission in characterizing an extreme hydrological event on a narrow river (∼60 m wide), using a landslide‐induced flood on the Chilcotin River (Canada) as a case study. SWOT

Impacts of FMNR on the agricultural performance of smallholder farming systems at landscape scale in Senegal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Management of isolated trees as an integrated part of smallholder farming systems has long been a key food security strategy in Africa. Current knowledge on the impact of parklands structuring on agrosystems productivity is limited.

Reconstruction of River Boundaries at Sub-Pixel Resolution: Estimation and Spatial Allocation of Water Fractions

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2017
Boundary pixels of rivers are subject to a spectral mixture that limits the accuracy of river areas extraction using conventional hard classifiers.

An investigation on seasonal variability between LST and NDWI in an urban environment using Landsat satellite data

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk, 2020
The urban landscape is considered the most complex and heterogeneous landscape among the different land surface features. It rises the land surface temperature (LST) to a large extent compared to the surrounding rural body.
