The excitation of trapped inertial waves (r-modes) by warps and eccentricities in the inner regions of a black hole accretion disc may explain the high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (HFQPOs) observed in the emission of Galactic X-ray binaries ...

Collisionless Magnetic Reconnection in Space Plasmas [PDF]
Magnetic reconnection requires the violation of the frozen-in condition which ties gyrating charged particles to the magnetic field inhibiting diffusion. Ongoing reconnection has been identified in near-Earth space as being responsible for the excitation

Molten KNO2 treatment induces a lowrefractive index disordered carbon shell on fluorescent nanodiamonds, enhancing fluorescence emission while preserving spin coherence. Machine learningassisted correlative TEMPL enables direct single‐particle resolution of this enhancement relative to air‐oxidized nanodiamonds of similar morphology, establishing a ...

Bi-Directional Energy Cascades and the Origin of Kinetic Alfv\'enic and Whistler Turbulence in the Solar Wind [PDF]
The observed sub-proton scale turbulence spectrum in the solar wind raises the question of how that turbulence originates. Observations of keV energetic electrons during solar quite-time suggest them as possible source of free energy to drive the ...

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

High‐Throughput Exfoliation of Optoelectronic‐Grade MoS2 via Turbulent‐Flow Wet Jet Milling
A scalable wet jet milling exfoliation method is demonstrated for producing optoelectronic‐grade MoS2 nanosheets using environmentally friendly ethyl cellulose in ethanol dispersion media. Guided by fluid dynamics modeling, this approach is optimized to achieve record‐high exfoliation throughput and concentration.

On the formation of cyclones and anticyclones in a rotating fluid [PDF]
It is commonly observed that the columnar vortices that dominate the large scales in homogeneous, rapidly rotating turbulence are predominantly cyclonic. This has prompted us to ask how this asymmetry arises.

InSb, a narrow‐bandgap semiconductor with high carrier mobility, is promising for thermoelectric energy conversion but suffers from high lattice thermal conductivity and strong bipolar conduction. Here, in situ interface engineering using Co2O3 nanoprecursors forms hierarchical CoSbx/In2O3/CoSb3 heterostructures that enhance phonon scattering and ...

The role of the Hall effect in the global structure and dynamics of planetary magnetospheres: Ganymede as a case study [PDF]
We present high resolution Hall MHD simulations of Ganymede's magnetosphere demonstrating that Hall electric fields in ion-scale magnetic reconnection layers have significant global effects not captured in resistive MHD simulations. Consistent with local
