Toughness of Confined Auxetic Foams
Auxetic (negative Poisson's ratio) materials offer benefits such as impact mitigation, thermal insulation, vibration damping, and reduced shear strain, although their fracture mechanics are largely unexplored. This study investigates damage initiation and propagation in confined re‐entrant auxetic foams from polyurethane via experimental ...

Clinical Application of Near-Infrared Spectroscopy in Neonates [PDF]
The incidence of cerebral palsy has not decreased despite advances in neonatal care. Preterm infants are at a high risk of cerebral palsy. Moreover, preterm infants might experience permanent neurological sequelae due to injury in the preterm brain ...

Glucose adulteration in Saudi honey with visible and near infrared spectroscopy [PDF]
This article reports on the implementation of visible and near infrared spectroscopy for the detection of glucose concentration in a mixture of Saudi and imported honey samples adulterated by glucose syrup of five concentrations: 0, 5, 12, 19, and 33 g ...

Comparative Study of Experimental Methods for Measuring Thermal Properties of 100Cr6 Steel Powders
This study investigates the thermal properties of 100Cr6 steel in both bulk and powder forms. Measuring the very low thermal conductivity typically exhibited by powders poses significant challenges. To address this, two novel measurement techniques—temperature gradient and finite laser pulse response—are introduced and evaluated by comparison with the ...

Near-infrared spectroscopy of natural alunites [PDF]
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) has been used to analyse alunites of formula K(Al3+)6(SO4)4(OH)12. Whilst the spectra of the alunites shows a common pattern differences in the spectra are observed which enable the minerals to be distinguished. These differences are attributed to subtle variations in alunite composition.

The Carnegie Supernova Project-II (CSP-II) was an NSF-funded, four-year program to obtain optical and near-infrared observations of a "Cosmology" sample of $\sim100$ Type Ia supernovae located in the smooth Hubble flow ($0.03 \lesssim z \lesssim 0.10 ...

Herein, the electroplating of titanium from an organic solvent, ethaline, is shown. Polymer additives are shown to smooth the roughness of the film, and small molecule additives are shown to produce a near‐mirror finish to the deposited metal. Titanium electroreduction is desired for a variety of medical, electronic, and bonding applications but has ...
