Near-Infrared Spectroscopy of McNeil's Nebula Object

open access: yes, 2004
We present 0.8-5.2 micron spectroscopy of the compact source at the base of a variable nebula (McNeil's Nebula Object) in the Lynds 1630 dark cloud that went into outburst in late 2003.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Ultrafast infrared near-field molecular nano-spectroscopy

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
We demonstrate molecular radiative infrared vibrational free-induction decay on the nano-scale and its control via near-field coupling between the transient molecular polarization and optical antenna properties of the metallic scanning near-field probe ...

Use of Near-infrared Spectroscopy for Determining the Characterization Metal Ion in Aqueous Solution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This study uses Aquaphotomics to measure Cadmium (Cd) and Magnesium (Mg) in aqueous solutions by analysing the changes in water spectra that occur due to water-metal interaction.

Discovery of Four High Proper Motion L Dwarfs, Including a 10 pc L Dwarf at the L/T Transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We discover four high proper motion L dwarfs by comparing the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) to the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS). WISE J140533.32+835030.5 is an L dwarf at the L/T transition with a proper motion of 0.85+/-0.02" yr^-1 ...

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

Microfluidic Cuvette for Near-Infrared Spectroscopy

open access: yesProceedings
We intend to develop an in situ near-infrared spectroscopic solution for monitoring the nutrient composition (e.g., lactate concentration) in microfluidic channels of organ-on-chip devices.
