Shear Strengthening of RC Beams Using Partial-Length Near-Surface Mounted (PLNSM) CFRP Strips

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials
Shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams using near-surface mounting (NSM) method with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) strips is more effective because of improved bond strength, better fire resistance and high maintainability.

Near-surface remote sensing applications for a robust, climate-smart measurement, monitoring, and information system (MMIS)

open access: yesCarbon Management
To reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) impact, the United States government plans GHG Measurement, Monitoring, and Information System (MMIS) activities to better quantify GHG sources and sinks in natural, forested, and agricultural ecosystems.

RRS Discovery Cruise 368, 15 Jul - 04 Aug 2011. Hydrographic measurements on WOCE line A16N

open access: yes, 2012
RRS Discovery Cruise 368 was a repeat occupation of part of the Atlantic hydrographic section designated by the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) as A16N. A total of 29 CTDO (conductivity-temperature-depth-oxygen) stations were occupied.

Resistance Rapid Heating of Aluminum Coatings in an Extreme High Vacuum–Adequate Atmosphere for Hot Stamping

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Ductility of continuous RC beams strengthened with partially bonded near-surface mounted CFRP bars

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences
Carbon fiber–reinforced polymer (CFRP) rods have been implemented for repair and strengthening work in several applications for reinforced concrete (RC) elements. The linear brittle behavior of these composite materials can be an excessive limitation for

Behaviour of RC beams shear strengthening with NSM CFRP laminates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The effectiveness of the Near Surface Mounted (NSM) technique with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) laminates for the shear strengthening of T cross section reinforced concrete (RC) beams is assessed by experimental research. The influence of the

Interaction of MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode With KF‐AlF3‐Al2O3 at 800°C During Laboratory Scale Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...
