A comprehensive assessment of endemic Brazilian Stachytarpheta (Verbenaceae): the need for conservation efforts in campos rupestres and savannahs

open access: yesOryx
Despite significant efforts to assess conservation status, many endemic plants in Brazil remain largely unstudied, including Stachytarpheta, a genus of Verbenaceae with 90 species in the country, of which 82 are endemic.

Sonneratia ovata Backer (Lythraceae): status and distribution of a Near Threatened mangrove species in tsunami impacted mangrove habitats of Nicobar Islands, India

open access: yesJournal of Threatened Taxa, 2012
The world’s most productive ecosystem, the mangrove forest, is under immense pressure due to natural and human induced disturbances. The Indian Ocean tsunami on 26 December 2004 had an adverse effect on these habitats by breaking and uprooting the mangrove trees.

On the distribution, ecology and conservation status of three rare plant taxa Zygophyllum compressum, Elachanthus glaber and Eremophila crassifolia in southwestern New South Wales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The arid and semi-arid southwest of New South Wales has received disproportionately less attention from botanists than other similar-sized geographic regions of the state.

NFS1 Regulates IDH2 to Attenuate Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms via Interacting With SP2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The loss of NFS1 leads to its reduced binding with the transcription factor SP2, resulting in decreased expression of the downstream gene Idh2. This causes a shift in energy supply toward glycolysis in VSMCs, ultimately contributing to the occurrence and progression of AAA.

Global analysis of threat status reveals higher extinction risk in tropical than in temperate bird sister species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Given increasing pressures upon biodiversity, identification of species’ traits related to elevated extinction risk is useful for more efficient allocation of limited resources for nature conservation.

Ecosystem‐Centered Robot Design: Toward Ecoresorbable Sustainability Robots (ESRs)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Robots exploring natural ecosystems can support monitoring and conservation, but must adopt ecosystem‐centered design to avoid pollution, waste, and damage. This review proposes guidelines for co‐designing ecoresorbable sustainability robots (ESRs), uniting materials, robotics, and ecological contexts in a single framework.

Wedelolactone, a Novel TLR2 Agonist, Promotes Neutrophil Differentiation and Ameliorates Neutropenia: A Multi‐Omics Approach to Unravel the Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wedelolactone (WED), a natural TLR2 agonist, promotes neutrophil differentiation and enhances bactericidal function, offering a potential therapeutic strategy for neutropenia. Using a multi‐omics approach, this study reveals that WED activates the TLR2/MEK/ERK pathway, upregulating key transcription factors (PU.1, CEBPβ) to drive neutrophil development.
