Threatened bryophytes of the neotropical rain forest : a status report [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Tropical deforestation, inevitably, leads to the local loss of bryophyte species. Recent studies show that the degree of species loss may vary considerably and depends on the scale or amount of habitat change that has occurred.

Diversity and Ecological Potentials of Marine Viruses Inhabiting Continental Shelf Seas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To the best of the knowledge, this study provides the largest viral genome dataset from a continental shelf sea. It reveals that over half of vOTUs are novel, highlighting the remarkable viral novelty in the eastern continental shelf seas of China (ECSSC).

Rattan‐Based Solar Evaporator Hits 3.34 Kg·M−2·h−1 and Long‐Term Salt Resistance via Programmed Carbonization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rattan‐based evaporator with bimodal hierarchical porous structures achieves an high evaporation rate of 3.34 kg m−2 h−1 under 1 sun illumination by optimizing the surface water layer, localizing heat, and reducing vaporization enthalpy. Abstract Global water scarcity urgently demands sustainable purification solutions.

Rarity patterns and conservation priorities in Cactaceae species from the Southern Central Andes: a case study from the Calchaquíes Valleys, Salta, Argentina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016

A Pan‐TE Map Reveals the Important Role of Transposable Elements in Gene Expression and Phenotypic Diversity in 2,311 Rapeseed Accessions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the first pan‐transposable element (TE) atlas in rapeseed, profiling over 8 million TEs across 2311 accessions. Integrative analyses reveal that TEs broadly shape gene expression through diverse regulatory mechanisms, with key insertions in BnaA03.FLC and BnaA09.CYP78A9 linked to flowering time and silique development.

On the distribution, ecology and conservation status of three rare plant taxa Zygophyllum compressum, Elachanthus glaber and Eremophila crassifolia in southwestern New South Wales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The arid and semi-arid southwest of New South Wales has received disproportionately less attention from botanists than other similar-sized geographic regions of the state.

Hydroponic culture improves growth and secondary metabolite production in Rheum tibeticum , a near threatened species from the Ladakh Trans-Himalayan region of India

open access: yesPlant Biosystems - An International Journal Dealing with all Aspects of Plant Biology
Rheum tibeticum holds significant medicinal value in the Himalayan region, boasting a robust traditional medicinal heritage. However, the species faces threats from habitat degradation and overharvesting. The present study underscores the medicinal efficacy of this species while recognizing the urgent need for sustainable practices.
