Transition from Near-Field to Extreme Near-Field Radiative Heat Transfer
The radiative heat transfer in the extreme near-field regime, i.e., for distances below 10 nm, remains poorly understood. There are competing experimental results in this regime, with some in good agreement with theoretical predictions, while others report drastically elevated heat fluxes, orders of magnitude larger than what theory suggests.

Use of near field acoustic levitation sliding contact [PDF]
This paper presents an investigation into producing self-levitation effect using piezo-electric actuators (PZT). Self-levitation has been demonstrated and results are presented and discussed.

Near-field optical microscopy: Contrast mechanisms in standard systems and photonic band gap structures [PDF]
We discuss some of the intrinsic difficulties related to the numerical investigation of near-held optical microscopy. We show how these difficult ies can be handled within the framework of the Green's tensor technique.

Mobile Phones as Sources of Electromagnetic Interference
The paper deals with a problem of interference as a result of the mobile phone coupling into the cabling of a complexsystem. The phenomenon has been simplified to a problem of near field coupling between a radiating antenna and a wire placed near a metal

Near-field optomechanical transduction enhanced by Raman gain [PDF]
Raman-gain-enhanced near-field optomechanical transduction between a movable optical cavity and SiN-membrane resonator is demonstrated. The Raman gain compensates for the intrinsic loss of the cavity and amplifies the optomechanical transduction, through

Orthogonal Beam-Focusing With Planar Arrays for Multiple Access in Near-Field Communications
Far-field multiple access techniques, such as space division multiple access (SDMA), leverage the angular orthogonality of beams in the far-field to serve multiple users with minimum interference. Recent approaches to extend this idea into the near-field
