Shadow of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a Bach-Weyl ring
We have studied the shadows of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a Bach-Weyl ring through the backward ray-tracing method. The presence of Bach-Weyl ring leads to that the photon dynamical system is non-integrable and then chaos would appear in ...

Dynamical Effects of Nuclear Rings in Disk Galaxies [PDF]
We investigate the dynamical response of stellar orbits in a rotating barred galaxy potential to the perturbation by a nuclear gaseous ring. The change in 3D periodic orbit families is examined as the gas accumulates between the inner Lindblad resonances.

Certain near‐rings are rings, II [PDF]
We investigate distributively‐generated near‐rings R which satisfy one of the following conditions: (i) for each x, y ∈ R, there exist positive integers m, n for which xy = ymxn; (ii) for each x, y ∈ R, there exists a positive integer n such that xy = (yx)n. Under appropriate additional hypotheses, we prove that R must be a commutative ring.

Centraliser near-ring representations [PDF]
Let V be a group, written additively but not necessarily abelian, and let S be a semigroup of endomorphisms of V. The set C( S; V)={ f: V→ V| fσ=σ f for all σ∈ S and f(0)=0} forms a zero-symmetric near-ring with identity under the operations of function addition and composition, called the centraliser near-ring determined by S and V.

Representation of near-ring Morita contexts and recognizing Morita near-rings [PDF]
Subject to certain faithfulness requirements in a morita context for near-rings, a canonical representation thereof is provided. Necessary and sufficient conditions (using an idempotent element) on a near-ring are given which determine when the near-ring

Cassini observations of the thermal plasma in the vicinity of Saturn's main rings and the F and G rings [PDF]
The ion mass spectrometer on Cassini detected enhanced ion flux near Saturn's main rings that is consistent with the presence of atomic and molecular oxygen ions in the thermal plasma.

Experimental studies of vortex disconnection and connection at a free surface [PDF]
An experimental study is presented that examines the interaction of a vortex ring with a free surface. The main objective of this study is to identify the physical mechanisms that are responsible for the self-disconnection of vortex filaments in the near-

Quantum Communication Through a Spin-Ring with Twisted Boundary Conditions [PDF]
We investigate quantum communication between the sites of a spin-ring with twisted boundary conditions. Such boundary conditions can be achieved by a flux through the ring.

Control of critical coupling in a ring resonator fiber configuration: application to wavelength-selective switching, modulation, amplification, and oscillation [PDF]
By controlling the internal loss of a ring resonator near critical coupling, we demonstrate control of the transmitted power in a fiber that is coupled to the resonator.

Microscopic Description of Black Rings in AdS/CFT
We discuss some aspects of the recently discovered BPS black ring solutions in terms of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In the type IIB frame in which the black ring carries the charges of the D1-D5-P system, we propose a microscopic description of the rings
