Shear strengthening of reinforced concrete deep beams using near-surface mounted hybrid carbon/glass fibre reinforced polymer strips

Engineering structures, 2020
This study investigated the efficacy of near surface mounted (NSM) hybrid carbon/glass fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) strips for strengthening of shear-deficient reinforced-concrete (RC) rectangular deep beams. A specific focus was the interaction of FRP

Design of a model mount for near-surface submarine experiments

2022
A wire suspension mount will greatly minimize mount interference and allow enough flexibility for a model to react appropriately without distortion of the reaction forces. This paper explores the initial steps to design this mount by developing a mathematical model to validate wire suspension as a viable mounting method for water environments.

Concrete Structures Strengthened with near Surface Mounted Reinforcement of CFRP

Advances in Structural Engineering, 2003
The need of maintenance, repair and upgrading of concrete structures has increased considerably over the last decade and will most likely continue to do so. There can be several reasons for this, but it can often be attributed to normal change of use, increased demands on the structure, errors in the design and/or construction phase or in the worst ...

Repairing corroded RC beam with near-surface mounted CFRP rods

Materials and Structures, 2010
This experimental program investigates the possibility of using Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) rods to repair RC beams damaged by steel corrosion. The 6-mm-diameter carbon-epoxy pultruded FRP rods were implemented in undamaged areas of the concrete cover by using the Near Surface Mounted reinforcement (NSM) technique.

Bond Behavior of Near-Surface Mounted FRP Bars to Masonry

Journal of Composites for Construction, 2018
AbstractThe contribution of near-surface mounted (NSM) fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars to the shear strength of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls built with concrete masonry units (CMU) was eval...

Debonding Failures of RC Beams Strengthened with Near Surface Mounted CFRP Strips

Journal of Composites for Construction, 2006
This paper presents the results of a series of tests conducted on reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened in flexure with near surface mounted (NSM) carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. As the main focus of the research is on debonding failure mechanisms, the only test variable investigated was the embedment length of the NSM strip and ...

Flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with near-surface mounted 7075 aluminum alloy bars

Journal of Building Engineering, 2020
Newly developed aluminum alloy (AA) bars with high strength, good ductility, and excellent corrosion resistance are gradually utilized for retrofitting or strengthening reinforced concrete (RC) structures.
