Design and concepts of nearly-zero energy buildings

Correlated Metal LaNiO3 as a p‐Type Transparent Conductor
p‐type transparent conducting oxides are needed to enable superstrate solar cell geometries with n‐type absorbers. The p‐type correlated metal LaNiO3 combines high optical transmission with low electrical resistivity and is compatible with a range of scalable deposition processes.

Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.

Principles for nearly zero energy building in Belgium
The recast of the European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requires all new buildings to be “nearly zero energy’ buildings (nZEB) by 2020, including existing buildings undergoing major renovations. Belgium was first to set a definition for a ‘net zero energy house’ (NZEB) in 2009.

The intrinsic distortion‐rich lattice of HEPBA with GQD‐enabled microstrain engineering establishes a mechanistic route toward high‐performance alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction. HEPBA inherently feature heterogeneous local coordination environments arising from multimetal incorporation, while properly introducing GQD during coprecipitation ...
