Nebivolol

open access: yesExpert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2007
Nebivolol is a third generation beta-blocker. It is highly selective for the beta 1-adrenoceptor, and has additional nitric oxide-mediated vasodilating and antioxidant properties, along with a favourable metabolic profile. Nebivolol is well tolerated by patients with hypertension and heart failure.

PHARMACOLOGY OF NEBIVOLOL

Pharmacological Research, 1998
Nebivolol is a new selective beta 1-adrenergic blocking agent, that possesses a peculiar pharmacodynamic profile and an original chemical structure, by which it differs from traditional beta 1-blockers. Nebivolol is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers in equal ratios. It is endowed with a highly selective beta 1-blocking activity, and does not show an

Nebivolol: a review

Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2004
Nebivolol is a vasodilating beta-blocker, which can be distinguished from other beta-blockers by its haemodynamic profile. It combines beta-adrenergic blocking activity with a vasodilating effect mediated by the endothelial L-arginine nitric oxide (NO) pathway.

X-ray investigations of nebivolol and its isomers

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Structure, 2006
The molecular and crystal structures of the hydrochlorides of d-nebivolol, dl-nebivolol, and seven nebivolol isomers have been determined by X-ray structure analysis. The absolute configuration of all the compounds could be determined unambiguously using

Nebivolol

Reactions Weekly, 2006
Nebivolol is a beta-blocker under U.S. Food and Drug Administration review for the treatment of hypertension. The unique pharmacologic properties of nebivolol include high specificity for the beta-1 receptor and a nitric oxide-mediated vasodilatory effect.

[Clinical pharmacology of nebivolol].

Cardiologia (Rome, Italy), 1999
Nebivolol is a novel, potent and highly selective beta(1)-adrenergic antagonist, devoid of intrinsic sympathomimetic activity, that induces endothelium-dependent arterial and venous dilatation via the L-arginine-nitric oxide pathway. Nebivolol reduces blood pressure and peripheral vascular resistance and does not depress, but rather maintains or ...

Exercise tolerance with nebivolol and atenolol

Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, 1991
Patients treated with beta-blocking agents often complain of fatigue during exercise. Exercise capacity is decreased under this condition. Nebivolol is a new beta 1-adrenoceptor antagonist with a particular hemodynamic profile, which might be due to an ancillary property. Five milligrams once daily seems the optimal dose for antihypertensive treatment.

Pharmacology of nebivolol.

Journal de pharmacie de Belgique, 1992
Nebivolol is a mixture of equal amounts of two enantiomers: SR3-nebivolol (d-nebivolol) and RS3-nebivolol (l-nebivolol). SR3-nebivolol is a potent and selective beta 1-adrenergic antagonist both in vitro and in vivo. Nebivolol acutely lowers blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats and induces a slight decrease in total peripheral vascular ...
