The minimum-mass extrasolar nebula: in situ formation of close-in super-Earths [PDF]
Close-in super-Earths, with radii R = 2-5 R_Earth and orbital periods P < 100 days, orbit more than half, and perhaps nearly all Sun-like stars in the universe.

Differential Diffusion: Giving Each Pixel Its Strength
Abstract Diffusion models have revolutionized image generation and editing, producing state‐of‐the‐art results in conditioned and unconditioned image synthesis. While current techniques enable user control over the degree of change in an image edit, the controllability is limited to global changes over an entire edited region.

Evidence for Magnetically‐Driven Accretion in the Distal Solar System
Paleomagnetic measurements of meteorites indicate that magnetic fields existed in the inner solar nebula capable of driving accretion at rates similar to those observed for young stellar objects with protoplanetary disks.

PHL 932: when is a planetary nebula not a planetary nebula? [PDF]
The emission nebula around the subdwarf B (sdB) star PHL 932 is currently classified as a planetary nebula (PN) in the literature. Based on a large body of multi-wavelength data, both new and previously published, we show here that this low-excitation nebula is in fact a small Stromgren sphere (HII region) in the interstellar medium around this star ...

Bursts of the Crab Nebula gamma-ray emission at high and ultra-high energies
Characteristics of the flares of gamma rays detected from the Crab Nebula by the AGILE and Fermi-LAT satellite instruments are compared with those of a gamma ray burst recorded by several air shower arrays on February 23, 1989 and with one recent ...

Pulsar Wind Nebulae with Thick Toroidal Structure [PDF]
We investigate a class of pulsar wind nebulae that show synchrotron emission from a thick toroidal structure. The best studied such object is the small radio and X-ray nebula around the Vela pulsar, which can be interpreted as the result of interaction of a mildly supersonic inward flow with the recent pulsar wind.

CHEMODYNAMICAL DEUTERIUM FRACTIONATION IN THE EARLY SOLAR NEBULA: THE ORIGIN OF WATER ON EARTH AND IN ASTEROIDS AND COMETS [PDF]
Formation and evolution of water in the solar system and the origin of water on Earth constitute one of the most interesting questions in astronomy. The prevailing hypothesis for the origin of water on Earth is by delivery through water-rich small solar ...

Anticorrelation Between Flux and Photon Index of Hard-X-Ray Emission from the Crab
Using Swift Burst Alert Telescope event-mode data during gamma-ray burst occurrences, we conduct spectral analysis for the Crab system. From 38 good observations, which span a period of 18 yr from 2006 to 2023, we find that the Crab’s X-ray flux not only

The Web of Micro-Structures in IC 4593
In addition to large-scale structures, planetary nebulae (PNe) show small-scale structures that emit mainly in low-ionization species such as [N ii], [S ii], [O ii], and [O i], known as LISs.
