Low level termination of external carotid artery and its clinical significance: A case report

open access: yesArchives of Clinical and Experimental Surgery, 2015
The external carotid arterial system is a complex vascular system providing nourishment to the territorial areas of the head and neck. The branches of the external carotid artery are the key landmarks for adequate exposure and appropriate placement of ...

Redox‐dependent binding and conformational equilibria govern the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this work, we reveal how different enzyme binding configurations influence the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in live cells using time‐resolved anisotropy imaging and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Mathematical modelling shows that the redox states of the NAD and NADP pools govern these configurations, shaping their fluorescence ...

SIMULATION OF THE COALESCENCE PROCESS OF METAL NANOPARTICLES OF DIFFERENT SHAPES [PDF]

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов, 2013
The simulation of the coalescence process of gold and copper nanoparticles of different shapes by Monte-Carlo method was carried out. The interaction between nanoparticles was described by many-body Gupta potential.

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Pre-expanded occipito-dorsal flap reconstruction for neck burns: A novel approach

open access: yesBurns & Trauma, 2014
Reconstruction of the neck following a burn injury poses a significant challenge to reconstructive burn surgeons. Here, we report a case of successful application of pre-expanded occipito-dorsal flaps in the reconstruction of postburn scars and ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

A rare mass in the neck region: Primary hydatid cyst

open access: yesTurkish Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2012
Hydatid disease is a common parasitic infestation caused by the parasite Echinococcus granulosus. It is a serious health problem most frequently encountered in rural areas where domestic livestock- raising is common.

Pain in the neck [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2017
A girl aged 4 years presented with a 1-month history of headache, malaise and episodes of unsteady gait. She appeared well with normal observations. She had limited neck extension and lateral rotation with normal neurological examination. A CT head showed no space-occupying lesion and the patient was discharged. She re-presented a week later with neck
