Expression and DNA methylation of 20S proteasome subunits as prognostic and resistance markers in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Comprehensive analysis of genomic mutations, gene expression, DNA methylation, and pathway analysis of TCGA data was carried out to define cancer types in which proteasome subunits expression is associated with worse survival. Albeit the effect of specific proteasome subunits on cellular function, the main role of the proteasome is better evaluated ...

Attempted Homicidal Cut Throat Injury

open access: yesJournal of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, 2022
Homicidal cut throat is an injury over the front of neck by sharp instruments with an intent of murder. The neck contains vital structures (nerves, blood vessels, airway and pharyngeal conduit) in a compact fashion that may be difficult to access for ...

Management of penetrating neck injuries [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Surgery, 2011
AbstractBackgroundRoutine surgical exploration after penetrating neck injury (PNI) leads to a large number of negative neck explorations and potential iatrogenic injury. Selective non-operative management (SNOM) of PNI is gaining favour. The present study assessed the feasibility of SNOM in PNI.MethodsSeventy-seven consecutive patients with PNI ...

Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Use of neuromuscular blockade for neck dissection and association with iatrogenic nerve injury

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2023
Background Cranial nerve injury is an uncommon but significant complication of neck dissection. We examined the association between the use of intraoperative neuromuscular blockade and iatrogenic cranial nerve injury during neck dissection.

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Multidetector Computed Tomographic Angiography (MDCTA) for Penetrating Neck Injuries

open access: yesRambam Maimonides Medical Journal, 2012
Evaluation of patients after penetrating neck injury has evolved over time. Previously, location of injury and symptoms were used to determine management. The contemporary management of penetrating neck injuries relies on physical examination.

Lack of evidence for central sensitization in idiopathic, non-traumatic neck pain : a systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Chronic neck pain is a common problem with a poorly understood pathophysiology. Often no underlying structural pathology can be found and radiological imaging findings are more related to age than to a patient's symptoms.
