The neck region contains very important anatomical structures. It is a very important region from a clinical point of view, and it is very important for doctors, dentists, nurses, health technicians and everyone who provides services in the field to know the neck anatomy. The neck is the body part between the head and the trunk.

Effect of muscle wrapping on model estimates of neck muscle strength
Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, 2006Of the computational models of the cervical spine reported in the literature, not one takes into account the changes in muscle paths due to the underlying vertebrae. Instead, all model the individual muscle paths as straight-line segments. The major aim of this study was to quantify the changes in muscle moment arm, muscle force and joint moment due to

Bradykinin and muscle stretch alter contralateral cat neck muscle spindle output
Neuroscience Research, 1998The objective of this study was to investigate the activity of primary and secondary muscle spindle afferents (MSAs) in neck muscles, when the contralateral splenius or trapezius muscles were (1) exposed to i.m. injection of bradykinin (BK) (6-86 microg/ml), (2) stretched, (3) stretched during exposure to BK or (4) stretched after exposure to BK.

Neck muscle fatigue disrupts self-motion perception
Experimental Brain ResearchThe effect of neck muscle fatigue induced by prolonged isometric contraction of the neck extensor muscles on self-motion perception was studied. The magnitude of self-motion perception was assessed by evaluating the tracking of a remembered earth-fixed visual target during passive symmetric and asymmetric sinusoidal horizontal body rotation.

Neck Muscles in the Rhesus Monkey. I. Muscle Morphometry and Histochemistry
Journal of Neurophysiology, 2001Morphometric methods were used to describe the musculotendinous lengths, fascicle lengths, pennation angles, and cross-sectional areas of neck muscles in adult Macaca mulatta monkeys. Additionally, muscles were frozen, sectioned, and stained for ATPase activity to determine fiber-type composition. Individual rhesus muscles were found to vary widely in

The neck is furnished by tens of muscles for flexion, extension, lateral bending, and rotation. It carries a 10-pound head for at least two-thirds of every day. These muscles are under delicate central control, and they are subject to different central and peripheral malfunctions.

Abstract The head (5 kg) is held up by 10 pairs of muscles that are in located the posterior part of the neck and connect the base of the head with the spines. These muscles are constantly active against gravity. Weakness of these muscles leads to dropped head and posterior neck pain, which are common manifestation of several ...
