Exploring Curvature Effects in Direct‐Written 3D Curved Hollow Magnetic Nanoshells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fabricated by a hybrid FEBID/CVD method, 3D PtC/Co3Fe core–shell heterostructures with engineered curvature and shell thickness exhibit complex reversal modes with axially symmetric N'eel‐type domain walls. XMCD‐PEEM combined with full‐scale micromagnetic simulations reveal how curvature and thickness govern the domain wall energy landscape and shape ...

A strain acceleration method to identify the onset of diffuse necking

open access: yesAdvances in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
This paper presents an innovative ‘strain acceleration method’ for determining the onset of diffuse necking in sheet forming tests using data obtained from digital image correlation (DIC).

Effects of elastic unloading on multiple necking in tensile bars

open access: yes, 2004
The deformation of round tensile bars subject to dynamic loading is studied numerically using two different plasticity theories: J(2)-flow theory and J(2)-deformation theory.

Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,

ACOUSTIC EMISSION MONITORING FOR NECKING IN SHEET METAL FORMING

open access: yes, 2022
There is extensive evidence in the literature that plastic deformation of metals is associated with an increase in Acoustic Emission (AE) activity. Thus, AE measurement techniques have the potential to monitor a forming process in real time and provide a

Ionic Transportation Induced Electric Field Modulation in Porous Ecoflex/PTFE with Confined Liquid for High‐Performance Contact Electrification Power Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Porous Ecoflex/PTFE composite with encapsulated liquid generates electricity through ionic migration induced by dynamic pore deformation, creating non‐uniform electric fields that drive charge induction on electrodes. This mechanism enhances charge transfer and ensures stable contact electrification performance, achieving 12 V and 4 nC with consistent ...

Polarity‐Reversible Photoresponse–Driven Autonomous Wavelength Discrimination in Quantum Dot–Tellurium Thin‐Film Photodetectors via Engineered Energy‐Band Alignment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A quantum dot–tellurium thin‐film photodetector autonomously discriminates visible and infrared wavelengths through polarity‐reversible photoresponses. Engineered carrier separation and gain modulation enable filter‐free multispectral sensing within a single‐device architecture.

Digitizing the Filtration Interface: A Smart, Modular Janus Wood Platform for Self‐Reporting Oil/Water Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work developed a smart Janus wood membrane integrating asymmetric wettability with built‐in electrical sensing for oil‐water separation. The membrane achieved > 99.5% separation efficiency and high flux by leveraging wood's natural anisotropic pore structure.
